In today’s world, threats to national security are becoming increasingly complex, and the protection of fundamental values has become a concern of each and every one of us. The National Security Institute Foundation (FIBN) was established to build strong foundations for stability and peace in Poland, Europe, and NATO. The Foundation is engaged in activities aimed at educating, training, and raising public awareness in the area of national security. Our mission is to enhance public debate and support decision-makers with expertise in state security.

The Foundation was established in 2024 by three Founders: Ernest Bejda, Dariusz Nowak, and Stanisław Żaryn. The trio have gained their experience in various institutions responsible for the security of the state, including Poland’s special services. These highly qualified experts strongly believe that a professional civic engagement will make a valuable contribution and complement to the efforts of state institutions aimed at ensuring the security of Poland.

Ernest Bejda, lawyer and civil servant, co-founder of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) in 2006. He served as the agency’s Deputy Head between 2006 and 2009. In the period of 2015–2016, he held the position of CBA’s Head. In the years that followed, he was appointed a member of the Management Board of Poland’s largest insurance company PZU (2020–2024) where he oversaw such areas as security and procurement. He is an expert in national security, law, and anti-corruption.

Dariusz Nowak, civil servant and local government official, with a vast portfolio of management positions within the government administration, including the Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA). He was a member of the Offset Committee at the Ministry of National Defence, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Polish Security Printing Works, and a member of the Supervisory Board of the Military Property Agency. He currently works at the Chancellery of the President of Poland. He is a highly praised expert in disinformation and cybersecurity.

Stanisław Żaryn, a political scientist by education and an expert in state and information security by practice. He was a longtime associate of the Minister-Coordinator of Intelligence and Security Services. In the years from 2022 to 2023, he held the position of Deputy Minister-Coordinator of Intelligence and Security Services. Prior to that, he served as the spokesperson for the Minister-Coordinator of Intelligence and Security Services (2016–2022). In 2022–2023, he was appointed State Secretary at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland and the Government Plenipotentiary for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland. His current position is an Advisor to the President of Poland. He is an expert in intelligence operations, hybrid threats, information security, and the activities of Russian secret services.

The National Security Institute Foundation is an independent organisation committed to safeguarding the security of Poland and analysing its geopolitical situation. The FIBN also looks from the same perspective at a much broader geopolitical landscape – namely Europe and NATO. The Foundation’s main focus is on intelligence-gathering as well as providing analysis, education, training, and expertise in areas related to national security, anti-corruption, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and hybrid threats faced by Poland.
As an independent institution, we initiate public debate on the most pressing issues for Poland, Europe, and NATO. We maintain an ongoing cooperation with the media in an effort to draw attention to developments crucial to Poland’s security. Our utmost activities involve publishing studies, analyses, and reports that identify topics affecting the information security of Poland, Europe, and NATO, as well as evidencing the hybrid warfare and other subversiveactions against the three theatres.

The IBN Foundation conducts intelligence, analytical, educational, publishing, scientific, training, and expert activities in areas related to national security, anti-corruption, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and hybrid threats targeting Poland. We also conduct preventative projects and public education initiatives aimed at raising the awareness of the Polish society of the threats and challenges facing the country. The IBN Foundation intends to carry out ambitious expert projects and reach up to both the decision-makers and the public opinion with in-depth analyses and an insightful expertise.
